A Pembrokeshire Wedding at Rhosygilwen

We had a chat with Sonja & Thomas about their Pembrokeshire wedding on Skype. Finding out about all of the details, we knew that this would be a wedding that we’d love to photograph. Pembrokeshire is such a beautiful county, with breathtaking scenery. Sonja & Thomas are actually from London but have been holidaying in Fishguard for many years. It was to be the perfect location for their day. Family travelled from all over and made the most of the wedding, by turning it into a lovely break too.

Their wedding ceremony took place at quaint St Mary’s Church in Newport. They then had a quick couple shoot in Fishguard at the stunning Cwm-yr-Eglwys, which has the remains of a church overlooking the coast. Their reception was then at at Rhosygilwen.

The day was so much fun. Filled with belly laughs and happy tears. We would have to say the highlight for us was the groomsmen’s speech. Rather than it being a traditional speech, it was a really hilarious song about the groom. It had everyone singing along to the chorus and was simply great comedy.

We always try to have couples see the value in having two of us to shoot the wedding day. It works well, as we can be in two places at once. On this occasion, whilst Sonia was with Sonja for her preparation, Simon was with the Thomas. Thomas and his groomsmen actually decided to take a morning swim, which was a lovely idea. We always encourage incorporating anything fun into your day. A way to get your personality across in the images and a chance to create lasting memories.
