We photograph Asian weddings in Buckinghamshire, London, Surrey and beyond. We have been as far as Malaysia to photograph an interracial Asian wedding.
Some of our favourite Asian wedding venues include; Hedsor House, Froyle Park, Stoneleigh Abbey, Braxted Park and Stapleford Park.
THE SUPER BROAD TOPIC
OF ASIAN WEDDINGS
Our paths crossed due to photography and a mutual interest in religion – having an Arab style Islamic wedding ourselves over 11 years ago.
Being an interracial couple, we understand a lot about celebrating the diversity of different cultures and religions. We have photographed countless types of Asian weddings.
To name just a few types; Hindu, Sikh, Catholic, Chinese, Arab, Malaysian, Muslim, Turkish, Indian, and Turkmen. We especially love when different cultures combine – forming unique traditions.
ASIAN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
HINDU WEDDINGS
We love to photograph all the traditions involved in Hindu weddings. The Hindu ceremony itself is so precious, with so many meaningful moments and involving many integral characters from your lives. It is beautiful to capture all of the emotions during this time.
It is especially an honour to document the Saptapadi, where the newly wed couple take the seven steps around the holy fire and they become officially husband and wife.
Being an Asian wedding photographer, it is understood that the majority of the time, couples choose to have their Hindu ceremony on the same day as their civil ceremony. Quite often there are outfit changes, with 2 or 3 totally different looks. We love all of the variety involved.
MUSLIM
WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
If you have made it to here, Asalamu alaykum! We are actually Muslim ourselves, with Simon having become Muslim around 5 years before he met Sonia.
We understand Muslim traditions extremely well, and the variety involved in different types of Islamic weddings and ceremonies. Quite often, with cultural traditions intertwining with Muslim.
It used to be that Sonia would cover the female side, if it is a segregated wedding and Simon the mens side. Sadly Sonia is not able to shoot at this moment in time. We can only potentially secure a female photographer if it is a last minute booking, so it is worth asking the question. However, in most cases, Simon is hired for mixed Muslim weddings.
Simon being Muslim himself, he understands the ettiques of Islamic lifestyle, and is respectful of this at all times.
Simon has photographed many types of Muslim weddings, which has given him a wealth of experience in Asian wedding photography and Muslim traditions. To name some types; Malaysian, Indian, Iraqi, Yemeni, Turkish, Egyptian, Pakistani and Turkmen of the top of our heads.
SIKH
WEDDINGS
What we admire most about Sikh Asian weddings is the genoristy and the strength of the community.
We had to share this image where the groom is forced to sing children’s nursery rhymes by his soon-to-be inlaws, in order to be let into the building. It was such a funny moments but we loved how all of the grooms family joinied in.
PHOTOGRAPHY FOR
CATHOLIC WEDDINGS
The majority of the Asian Catholic weddings that we have photographed have been Goan. We find it fascinating to see how the cultures have intertwined, with the Portugese influence, combined with Indian culture.
CHINESE
WEDDINGS
Chinese Asian weddings are so heart-warming. We especially enjoy the Chinese Tea Ceremony, it is so beautiful seeing and honouring the respect that is given to the elders in the family. Ultimately getting that respect from the people who guided you to this point in your life.
ARAB
WEDDINGS
With Sonia being Arab and Simon having been in an Arab family for 12 years, Arab culture is very close to our hearts. We have travelled to a whole variety of Arab countries together, even for family weddings. To name a few countries; Yemen, Morocco, United Arab Emirates and Oman. We’ve even been blessed to have been to Socotra Island – Google it if you haven’t heard of it, it is incredible and there is no other place like it. I digress.
We’ve photographed all sorts of Arabian mixed weddings as well. You can’t beat a Zaffa and Arabic music on the dance floor!
