Oxfordshire Wedding, Hadsham Farm
With Louise & Matthew
As far as an Oxfordshire wedding is concerned, this one was a beauty! Louise & Matt booked us two years prior to their wedding date, and they generally made planning look effortless; Matt in-fact does project management for a living, so schedules are his thing! Four months before the wedding, Matt got in contact with us, advising that they were changing from their original venue due to sound limitations. They were now organising a Tipi Wedding at Hadsham Farm.
With only a few months to go, we totally underestimated the all round amazing wedding organisation skills and determination of these two. Plus the solid backing of a close knit circle of friends and family. If you do have a great set of loved ones, DELEGATE! They can really go a long way to helping you achieve your vision, as long as you have the passion.
We totally underestimated British weather. WOW, what a summer we had! This Oxfordshire wedding in particular was a scorcher at midday, which eventually smouldered down into a postcard sunset on a beautiful summers eve. How beautiful is Hadsham Farm as you creep down a gentle descent of a drive, which then opens up to reveal a picturesque and idyllic setting for a summer wedding. In that moment overlooking the tipi’s, I knew these guys had everything going for them.
The Ceremony
Louise and Matt were set on having the ceremony at their local church Saint Mary’s, just around the corner their home, with the amazing twist of Matt’s sister being the vicar. This fuelled the occasion with so much more emotion, which was apparent in the teary eyes of all who waited at the altar as Louise graced the aisle with her father – who was just about managing to put one foot in front of the other. The church itself had rules of absolutely no confetti on the grounds, so of course we improvised to dramatic effect. The couple jumped into the immaculate powder blue VW Camper van of Fifties Chic and we made our way to Hadsham Farm.
The Wedding Breakfast
Upon arriving, the guests already frequenting the tipi grounds, some soaking up sunshine with a drink, others shade, admiring the amazing level of detail and personal touches which graced the venue. There were too many personal touches to mention here but the flowers supplied by The Flower Girls were AMAZING and abundant! It was definitely an honour for us to wear British Heart Foundation pins to commemorate the sad passing of Matthews father. The couple were also blessed to have two musical cousins, who had never played together before, but performed on the day and smashed it.
The reception food supplied by The Wild Oven suited a rustic outdoorsy Oxfordshire wedding perfectly, as platters of sliced meat, cheese and breads were passed around – encouraging a really informal and sociable atmosphere. PRO PLANNING TIP ALERT!! The couple had us seated amongst the guests, close to the couple, so we could enjoy the food but also have one eye on happenings from a ‘part of it all’ perspective.
Drinks and tears flowed during speeches and the guests eventually spilled outside. The sun was at a great height for pictures now and the couple shoot ensued at the edge of the lake, which actually allowed Louise and Matt to soak up the day that they had created from afar. After the photos they had a few quiet kisses and cuddles before hopping gates and returning to the evening guests.
The Party
Fraudio band kicked off first dance and beyond, while pizzas were served from the food truck. Marshmallows were toasted on open fires and guests drank around the fire pit. It was the absolute perfect Oxfordshire wedding, the perfect weather and the perfect couple. We feel very blessed to have been given the responsibility of documenting the best day of their lives together.
The Icing On The Cake
To top everything off, Matt & Louise decided to create a masterpiece of a Thank You card. They put together a magazine instead, with lots of images and thank you’s, talking through all the details of the day. They also made up a CD of their cousin’s songs from the wedding day. These thoughtful touches go a long way and show that their planning went above and beyond. Everything about their wedding was simply perfection.
We are super excited as Louise’s sister is getting married this year. We cannot wait to be part of Katie & Alex’s special day. It will be amazing to catch up with everyone again!
