With Nadhrah & Aaron

Nadhrah studied in the UK, where they met. However, Aaron had spent quite some time living in Malaysia and embracing the culture. They decided to combine their love for both cultures, by having wedding celebrations both in the UK and in Malaysia. Their Kuala Lumpur wedding took up a few days worth of celebrations. On the day of their engagement shoot, they kindly invited us as guests for the mehndi party. The next day was their Nikkah (Islamic ceremony) day. As we were staying with their family, whilst Sonia was with Nadhrah during her preparation, Simon went over to where Aaron was.. He was still asleep! The guys then went to Friday prayers, which was a great cultural experience. It was then time to get ready. They made us giggle at one point, as we think Aaron popped over to try sneak a peak of Nadhrah, as he knocked on the door to ask ‘do I wear socks?’

Nadhrah & Aaron had the Islamic ceremony in Nadhrah’s family home, in Petaling Jaya, where she grew up. After the ceremony it was time for dinner. There were traditional dancers, close friends and family took part in different dance performances as well. We absolutely loved staying with the family before the wedding itself, as we got to see the lead up for the wedding celebrations – including dance practice. Not to mention being spoilt with getting to try lots of traditional food!

We absolutely love Malaysia, everything about it! The climate is extremely humid, the food is delicious, but spicy! The people are just so warm and welcoming. It was absolutely amazing seeing the traditions that they decided to incorporate. With it being a fusion wedding, it was lovely to see what they would bring in from each side.
