With Katie & Alex

How We Met

There is a bit of a story around how we met Katie and Alex. They found us, for their Shustoke Barn Wedding in Warwickshire, on Hitched. Katie’s sister had already booked us for her wedding, Katie didn’t know until she told Louise that she had arranged a Skype call with us. Talk about coincidental! Especially with the amount of photographers on Hitched and the unlikeliness that they’d both stumble across us. Click here for a rewind of Louise & Matt’s beautiful wedding.

Preparation

Katie’s preparation took place at her mothers home, now making it a family tradition. The bridesmaids and best woman presented her with a book of hilarious photographs and captions which started the morning off with a few cackles. We had to include a photograph of the cat. This beautiful kitty was around for Louise’s wedding but was unwell, so it was lovely to see how much healthier she was looking, weaving amongst the make up. When Katies father arrived to collect her, the pride on his face was clear to see.

Alex’s preparation took place at his parents home, where his father had the BBQ on from the get go, fixing everyone up with bacon sandwiches. There was a little football match going on, with Alex’s son and the groomsmen. Simon was impressed with the young man’s talent, running rings about the old boys, whilst wearing wellies! Once they were all ready, they headed to the pub next to the church for some drinks and to congregate with loved ones.

The Ceremony

The ceremony at St Edith’s Church was pull on everyones heart strings. A person that stood out the most to us was Katie’s father, he was exceptionally teary eyed. We love the emotion that comes with weddings. Perhaps we even shed a tear when the choir was singing, as it was really beautiful, especially the song choices. The ring exchange lit up both of their faces with joy, it was a big moment!

The Reception

We loved the detail that was put into the wedding breakfast at Shustoke Barn in Warwickshire. Katie & Alex’s table plan was based around the countries that they had visited together. They even had little descriptions on each table with the story of their trip. The flowers were perfect, by Penny Johnson.

The speeches were heartfelt, turning laughter to tears, and back again. The sincerity in Alex’s face was absolutely beaming out as he locked eyes with his now wife.

The Evening

There was a good amount of entertainment in the evening. Katie & Alex don’t really have a sweet tooth, so they opted for something a bit different, a cheese stack. This was such an awesome idea. There were fire-pits glowing outside, with toasted marshmallows. It’s always great fun to get everyone outside for a sparkler tunnel. Katie & Alex hid a couple to play around with afterwards, attempting to write ‘LOVE YOU’ with Picasso-esque results. It’s never as easy as it looks!

We are sad that both Katie & Alex’s and Louise & Matt’s weddings are now over but hope to come together for an S2 selfie at a friends wedding in the not too distant future. It’s was so special for us to reunite with the family again, seeing familiar faces who greeted us with such warmth.
