Grand Wedding at Stoneleigh Abbey in Warwickshire

Better late than never right? We are going to try and play catch up by posting a wedding a week starting with some of last years. This grand wedding at Stoneleigh Abbey in Warwickshire took place last August. It was a wedding close to our hearts, as it was Sonia’s brother getting married. We have to say that this was probably one of the hardest weddings to photograph. Not because they say that you shouldn’t work for family! But because it was hard emotionally.

During precious moments, it was a challenge to try to focus on working. For example, on the morning of the wedding, Sonia’s brother sent his wife-to-be a gift. As she read out the card, it brought Sonia to tears and they embraced during that moment. It was beautiful, but the camera had to be put down and Sonia had to simply be in the moment. It was so hard to just focus when two people who are so dear to you are having their very own precious day.

Usually when working, although you are in the moment, the camera forms a barrier, but it just wasn’t enough that day. However, we wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Photographing a wedding, you get to be alongside the bride and groom all day and witness all of the emotions. The nerves, the tears and the laughter! We wouldn’t have wanted to trust anyone else with the job.

We never take what we do lightly and were truly honoured to have been asked to photograph such a perfect day. They had a beautiful ceremony that took place at St Peter’s Church in Leamington Spa. Followed by an idyllic drinks reception outside The Orangery at Stoneleigh Abbey. The wedding breakfast and reception then took place in The Riding School. Stoneleigh Abbey is truly a perfect setting for a grand wedding affair.

One thing we must say about this wedding, which truly impressed us. Sonia’s brother, and his now wife, included all of their loved ones in one way or another. From the readings to one of their family members baking the cake – all those closest to them helped make the day complete. These personal touches are what live on through the images.

A year on and we recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary. We cannot believe how quickly time is passing! These guys mean the world to us and we think this maybe why it has taken us so long to share their photographs. It has been so hard to select images to fit in a blog post!

P.S. Let’s play ‘Where’s Simon,’ instead of Where’s Wally! Both of us managed to be in the large group photo of everyone at the wedding. The only way that this was possible was for us both to take photo’s and then edit Simon in. The way he brushed himself in, we decided to call the brush the ‘Simon Brush!’ We were joking that he should add himself into everyone’s wedding photos!
