County Durham Wedding
With Kerry & Tom
Throwing it back to the start of summer with this beautiful wedding in Embleton, County Durham. It feels so long ago, with winter now setting in!
HOW WE MET
Kerry had first got in touch with us after her cousin Cat got married to Matt at Coppleridge Inn in Dorset. This was almost 5 years ago. Kerry has always said that when she get’s married, she would love to have us alongside her. We were truly honoured when Kerry got in contact, soon after her proposal, to discuss the details of her own wedding.
A UNIQUE VENUE
We were super excited, as this wedding was very unique to any other that we have photographed before. Kerry informed us that her husband to be, Tom, has a family church on his parents land in Embleton, County Durham. At the time that we started speaking about the wedding, it had no roof and a tree growing in the middle of it. They had took on a huge project to get the church renovated in time for their special day.
THE CELEBRANT
One absolutely priceless touch to the day was that they decided to have Kerry’s ex boyfriend, Simon (who came out as gay shortly after they split up) as their celebrant. We have never witnessed such an entertaining ceremony, everyone was crying with laughter! Simon added so much personality to the day, having known Kerry and Tom for so long. To top it off, he caught the bouquet as well, truly deserved after his amazing performance during the ceremony!
THE DETAILS
This wedding was so personal, even down to the table settings. Kerry’s family are from Australia and Kerry’s mother brought a lot of the table details over with her. All of their loved ones had some kind of an input on the day, including a hilarious song sang by the bridesmaids, instead of a speech. And we have to give a shout out to Kerry’s wedding shoes, white wellies which her loved one’s personalised!
THE COUPLE
Kerry and Tom are such an amazing couple – thoughtful, fun loving and carefree. They truly embraced their special day in every way that they could. We felt more like guests than photographers, as we were included in every moment, even down to being seated as guests.
This day was so much fun from start to finish. We can’t forget to mention the most amusing moments; where Kerry accidentally showed off her bum whilst walking to the ceremony and then looked forward to seeing the photo once she heard about it – how laid back is that! Plus, Tom leaving the handbrake on whilst trying to drive off in the Gator after the confetti. It shows how much of a fearless bride Kerry is, as she got out to push the Gator, in her wedding dress!
We love a bride that does not mind getting her hands dirty. From pushing the Gator and dropping chocolate cake all down her wedding dress, to rolling around in the fields in hysterics of laughter.
